I will tell you a little about myself...

My name is Gabriela Berlingeri. I was born in 1967 in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Since I was a teenager I have been fascinated by art. I remember myself reading over and over again the “Art/Rama” encyclopedia that was in my parents' library. That was my treasure for a long time; it was a world without the Internet.

I was fortunate to be able to visit cities like Rome, Florence, Paris for the first time, when I was only 15 years old. I experienced the emotion of contemplating the architecture and art of the great masters of history, at the same time that I enjoyed street art.

I chose to study architecture, which allowed me to travel to many places in the world and at the same time I began my learning in drawing, painting and art history in the workshop of the teacher Clever Lara in Montevideo.

An immense universe opened before my senses, and I found that the world was full of paths to explore.

I started experimenting with textures within a strictly geometric order, with clear allusions to the architectural world. The materials with which the buildings are built became the materials of my works: brick, sand, ropes, etc.

However, the study of the human figure with a live model was the beginning of a path that would later lead to watercolor.

In 2006, I made the decision to come to live in Spain to practice my profession as an architect and to continue training in the artistic field. Now I live on the Mediterranean, a few kilometers from the Cabo de Gata Natural Park, which makes me feel at home.

The diaphanous and light-filled atmosphere of Almería has clearly influenced my work. I went from a range of earth colors to brighter and more vivid tones. The density of the matter gave way to the lightness of watercolor, a technique as seductive as it is challenging, with which I have fallen in love.

Nowadays I really enjoy supporting others to express themselves through watercolor and fostering in them the same enthusiasm that I feel when painting.
